My interest in thrifting really started during my senior year of high school. Fast forward 13 years and I still love finding vintage clothing, decor, and other household items that I can use and/or repurpose.

I came across this metal cake mold and a candle pillar and knew that I could use them to make a fun project.

Red and black fluted vase and bowl on a wooden surface. Blurry background with shelves and soft lighting. Calm, artistic setting.

First, I painted the pillar with chalk paint. I gave it two coats to have more coverage.

Then, I painted little circles/dots with the same chalk paint onto the red bowl.

I grabbed some super glue from Dollar Tree (e6000 would work too), put a layer of that around the top of the pillar, then placed the bowl over it.

I put a random object on top to act as a weight to keep the bowl pressed down in place overnight.

The next day, I took the mushroom outside and sprayed a couple of coats of Mod Podge. This helps seal it and also gives a glossy shine. If you use any glues or sprays, be sure to do it in a well-ventilated area!

Red polka dot mushroom-shaped object and Mod Podge spray on cardboard in sunlight, set on grass.

This is the finished product. I think it will add a whimsical vibe to home decor, garden beds, or fairy gardens.
